Last night we had dinner in a fantastic place, perhaps the most beautiful (and more expensive - about € 30 per person for a meal, compared to 7 / 8 usually we spend here) in Porec: a restaurant on the corner tower of the city. It is impossible to describe it without diminishing it is a collection of raised platforms of wood between the stones of the tower, which dates back to 1400, reached Spread across scales in wood and stone, culminating in a splendid terrace from which you can see the sea and the city.
Today we reviewed the tower walking through the ancient streets of the city, where we spent the whole morning. We walked along the street Decumana photographing the pentagonal tower, the round and the destruction, the aquarium where we stopped for 40 kuna (about 5 €), we have known starfish, scorpion fish and small sharks, we have entered a building used as an art gallery where the colors of the paintings and sculptures are mixed with Portuguese music popular with locals, we have taken away from the street Decumana S. Eleuterio to reach the basilica Euphrasian, in which the gold mosaics have left us open mouth; last stage, Piazza Marafor with its Romanesque house. After lunch, we were undecided about what to do: sea caves or Jama? The weather did not promise well, so we opted for second choice. The caves are located about six kilometers from Porec to Visnjan. Shortly before the entrance to the caves, there is a kind of museum of agriculture. For 30 kuna (4 € and something) you can visit the display of vintage tractors, a model from 1923, and an exhibition of farming tools. After this brief stop at last we enter the caves (the ticket costs 50 kuna - 7 €): You go down to 60 meters in depth, including stalagmites, stalactites, red, taking spectacular forms, sometimes bizarre. Fantastic scenery.
Our day concludes with a dinner on the small terrace of our apartment, in a moment more to taste the liquor purchased in the center before returning home.
Tomorrow we hope for a sunny day, to resume the exploration of the area beaches.
